This art project as a time of free drawing while Miss Julie was reading a story by Dr. Suess. |
After the students finished drawing, they took their art to the painting table and used water paints to add color to their previous black and white drawing.
After the paintings were dry, Miss Julie and Miss Crystal cut the all pictures into three equal pieces.
Next each child randomly chose three pieces and pieced them together to make one new piece of art.
This was fun for the children, yet it stretched and challenged many of them for a couple of reasons. First of all, it gave the children a different glimpse of art. Art doesn't have to be perfect and orderly. The children learned about "abstract" art. Secondly, the children had to let go of their painting in order to create new "abstract" art with their friends. The children learned that for some projects, "together is better!"
Enjoy, Miss Julie and Miss Crystal
