half and half

Today, each child received a gingerbread man to color.
Nice work everyone.

During circle time we talked about what whole is.
When something is together.  The children's
gingerbread man was together and that mean
it was whole.

We then asked the children to cut their gingerbread man into two equal pieces.
Thus creating two halves.

Together the gingerbread man was whole, but
apart he was half.  Together whole, apart half.

The children then passed around half of their
gingerbread man to a friend and got to put the two half's together to make a whole gingerbread man.
This was a great learning experience for all the children and a fun activity.
Thanks for the fun!  Miss Julie and Miss Crystal
