This Week with the Robins

Hello again! It’s been another great week in the Robin’s class full of fun, exploration, and learning.

This week we introduced a sensory table to our classroom filled with rainbow rice, paperclips, and letters.  It was a big hit! The Robins seemed to really enjoy searching for the letters in their own names.

Some new improvements to the back room’s block area encouraged a group of children to build in some incredible ways…

What better way to introduce mathematical concepts than with skittles?

Welcome Fall! We spent a lot of time this week talking about the change in seasons. We started the week with a leaf science center where children were encouraged to observe different leaves and draw their observations. The kids were so excited they wanted to collect some of their own, so Miss Julie took them on a “leaf hunt.” The Robins really enjoyed using the leaves they collected in an art project. It was really interesting to see how each child used the leaves and paint in different ways. It was messy and so much fun!

The kids enjoyed the leaf painting so much, we set up this center with construction paper leaves and felt to see what the children would come up with. Pirates! The children decided to use the felt to fashion pirate accessories like eye patches and belts. We decided to follow the children’s lead and go on a treasure hunt.  Each child was given an opportunity to name something they thought should be on the treasure map and off we went!

Another highlight this week was blackberry picking. At snack time the kids really enjoyed getting to eat the berries they had worked so hard to pick.

Until next time...
